Silas ran in the 1928 Olympics. In the clip to the right (press on link) Silas is seen leaving the Olympic Stadium with the other marathon runners at 2:58 minutes and again at 3:11 minutes.
The official film of the the 1928 Olympics was called "Olympische spelen te Amsterdam" and was created by an Italian film company. The following is a 10 minute clip from the film focused on the Marathon event (press on link).
Another video clip from Olympics (press on link) in 1928 shows Silas cheering in the stands of the Olympic stadium. . He shows up at 2:12 minutes in the video. The video shows Silas and the Canadian athletes cheering the victory of Percy Williams, a 19 year old who won the 100 metres and the title of world's fastest man. Silas said his proudest moments in the 1928 Olympics was sharing a tent with Percy in Amsterdam.
Silas ran in the Boston Marathon (press on link) in 1930. He shows up at 0:19 minutes in the video. Silas finished in the top ten that year. The winner, for the seventh time, was Clarence DeMar. Silas finished ahead of Clarence in the 1928 Olympics.
